Momentum Vwap Barrier Breakout / BhanuCodeLab

Indicators MetaTrader 5 Free

How the indicator works

The indicator detects confirmed swing highs and swing lows.

Nearby swing highs are grouped to form resistance zones, while nearby swing lows are grouped to form support zones. A zone must receive the required number of price touches before it qualifies as a valid barrier.

When a bullish candle closes above a qualified resistance zone, the indicator displays:

  • A blue resistance rectangle

  • A blue bullish breakout arrow

When a bearish candle closes below a qualified support zone, the indicator displays:

  • A red support rectangle

  • A red bearish breakout arrow

Signals are confirmed only after the candle closes. The unfinished current candle cannot confirm a breakout.

The rectangles use a gradient fill with transparency so the underlying candles remain visible.

Confirmation filters

The indicator includes a dropdown with four confirmation options.

VWAP

VWAP is the default filter.

A bullish breakout is accepted only when the breakout candle closes above the session VWAP. A bearish breakout is accepted only when it closes below the session VWAP.

VWAP helps confirm whether price is breaking in the same direction as the session’s volume-weighted price position.

SMA

The Simple Moving Average filter accepts bullish breakouts above the SMA and bearish breakouts below it.

The default filter period is 20 and can be adjusted.

SMMA

The Smoothed Moving Average filter works similarly to the SMA filter but reacts more gradually to price changes.

Bullish signals require price above the SMMA, while bearish signals require price below it.

None

Selecting None disables directional confirmation. Every breakout that satisfies the support and resistance rules can produce a signal.

This setting normally produces more signals, including more false breakouts.

What the signal table shows

The chart panel displays the latest confirmed breakout condition:

  • BULLISH BREAK indicates the latest accepted breakout was above resistance.

  • BEARISH BREAK indicates the latest accepted breakout was below support.

The panel reports the latest signal direction. It does not display open trades, profit, stop-loss, or target status.

Recommended timeframe

The primary recommended setup is:

  • Instrument: XAUUSD

  • Timeframe: M5

M5 provides more breakout opportunities but can contain more market noise.

M15 and M30 may also be tested. These timeframes generally produce fewer signals, but the zones and breakouts may be cleaner.

The best timeframe depends on the broker’s price feed, spread, trading session, and the user’s preferred trading frequency.

Suggested entry method

Bullish Breakout

For a bullish breakout:

  1. Wait for the bullish breakout candle to close above the resistance rectangle.

  2. Confirm that the blue breakout arrow appears.

  3. Consider entering at the opening of the next candle.

Bearish Breakout

For a bearish breakout:

  1. Wait for the bearish breakout candle to close below the support rectangle.

  2. Confirm that the red breakout arrow appears.

  3. Consider entering at the opening of the next candle.

Avoid entering before the breakout candle closes because the price may return inside the zone before the candle is complete.

If the breakout candle is unusually large, entering at the next candle may produce a late entry and a wide stop. In such cases, the trade may be skipped or evaluated for a controlled pullback entry.

Suggested stop-loss placement

For a bullish entry, the stop-loss may be placed:

  • Below the breakout candle’s low, or

  • Slightly below the broken resistance zone

For a bearish entry, the stop-loss may be placed:

  • Above the breakout candle’s high, or

  • Slightly above the broken support zone

The stop should include enough room for the instrument’s spread and normal volatility. A very small stop may be triggered by ordinary XAUUSD movement.

Suggested target distance

A practical starting target is 1.5 times the stop distance.

For example, if the distance between entry and stop-loss is $10 on XAUUSD, a 1.5R target would be $15 from the entry.

A 2R target may be considered when there is enough open space before the next opposing support or resistance zone.

Do not place a target beyond a nearby opposing zone without checking whether price has sufficient room to reach it.

Use with personal trading analysis

This indicator should work as an additional confirmation tool rather than the only reason for entering a trade.

Results may improve when its breakout signals are combined with the trader’s own analysis, including:

  • Higher-timeframe market direction

  • Major support and resistance

  • Market structure

  • Trading-session conditions

  • Volatility

  • News events

  • Risk management

  • Available distance to the next opposing zone

A breakout arrow confirms that the programmed conditions were satisfied. It does not guarantee that price will continue in the breakout direction.

Caution

False breakouts can occur, especially during low-liquidity periods, sideways markets, major economic announcements, or sudden volatility.

The indicator does not automatically place trades or manage risk. Stop-loss, target, position size, and trade execution remain the user’s responsibility.

Past chart signals do not guarantee future performance. Broker feeds, spreads, commissions, slippage, and execution conditions can affect real-world results.

Before using the indicator with real money, test it thoroughly on historical data and a demo account. Evaluate it across different market conditions, sessions, and time periods. Use appropriate risk management and never risk more than you can afford to lose.
