Double Enevlopes (Historical Gauged)

This indicator is built around a Volatility Breakout Strategy. By separating its two envelopes, it builds a layered volatility map around the baseline moving average, searching for the moments when price forcefully breaks out of its usual range. Here is exactly how to read the logic for traditional trading decisions: 1. The Entry (Momentum Ignition) The inner envelope (Envelope 1) serves as your noise filter. In a quiet market, price will bounce back and forth without direction inside this channel.

  • Buy Trigger: You enter a long position when a candle closes above the upper band of the inner envelope, as long as the previous candle closed inside or below it. This clean cross shows that upward momentum has suddenly overcome the baseline average.
  • Sell Trigger: You enter a short position when the candle closes below the lower band of the inner envelope, which signals a sudden break in downside momentum. 2. The Exit (Taking Profit) The outer envelope (Envelope 2) serves as your dynamic profit target.
  • Because volatility expands outward during a breakout, the second envelope’s wider deviation offers a realistic, mathematically derived target for where the sudden momentum spike is likely to run out of steam. You exit the trade as soon as price touches this outer band. 3. The Risk Management (Stop Loss)
  • The Stop Loss is tied to the opposite band of the inner envelope from the previous candle (for example, a Buy signal places the SL at the previous bar’s inner lower band).
  • This is a dynamic, structural stop. It puts your risk just beyond the normal noise range. If price falls back through the entire inner envelope and reaches the opposite side, the breakout has clearly failed and turned into a fake-out. The Ideal Market Environment This setup works best in high-liquidity, high-volatility conditions where momentum actually follows through. It tends to perform exceptionally well on assets that are prone to heavy institutional trends, such as GBPUSD or XAUUSD, especially during the London or New York trading overlaps. On the other hand, the weakness of this system is a low-volume, ranging market. If an asset is chopping sideways, price will repeatedly poke outside the inner envelope just enough to trigger a signal, only to immediately reverse and hit your stop loss (a situation known as whipsawing).
